Template pausing | Developer Documentation
What to do when a WhatsApp template is paused
Meta may pause a WhatsApp message template after poor customer feedback or other quality signals. A paused template cannot be used for new sends, even if it was approved earlier. This is different from template pacing, where some messages may be held while Meta assesses early feedback.
Confirm the template's status
- Sign in to your ChatArchitect account and find the template by name and language. Check its current status and quality rating.
- You can also check the connected WhatsApp Business Account in WhatsApp Manager → Message templates, or ask ChatArchitect support to check the template. Give support the template name, language, connected number, and the time sending stopped.
- Check the outcome of messages already submitted. A campaign request being accepted does not mean every recipient received the message. If some messages were held before the pause, ask support which were released or dropped before you consider resending.
Protect the campaign
- Stop scheduled or automated sends that use the paused template. Repeated attempts with the same paused template will not restore delivery.
- Review the text, recipient list, consent, and sending frequency. Make the message relevant to people who expect it. The quality guide has a checklist.
- If the content needs to change, check the available editing action in wtargeted.com or arrange a replacement. Follow the editing and deletion guide to review affected sending workflows, then wait for approval before using the new version. The review guide explains how to check the result.
- Ask ChatArchitect support whether this pause requires a manual action or whether the template will become active again automatically. The next step depends on Meta's reason for the pause and the template's current status.
Resume the campaign only after confirming that the template is active, checking the final outcome of earlier sends, and deciding which recipients still need a message. If Meta has disabled the template, contact support about an appeal or a replacement rather than assuming a pause will end by itself.
