Why WhatsApp template messages may be held before delivery

If some messages in a ChatArchitect campaign have not reached recipients, first separate message delivery from template approval. An approved template can be subject to Meta's template pacing: Meta sends an initial group of messages and temporarily holds others while it evaluates early feedback. A request accepted for processing is not proof that the recipient received the message.

If several templates or numbers in the same Meta business portfolio are affected, see business portfolio pacing. Ask ChatArchitect support to identify which review is holding the messages before sending another batch.

Check what happened

  1. Check the campaign or integration where you sent the messages. Look for a delivery outcome for the affected recipients, not just a successful submission. An API integration may report held_for_quality_assessment for a held message.
  2. In your ChatArchitect account, check the template's status and quality rating by name and language. An approved or active template can still have individual messages held. The quality guide explains what the rating means.
  3. If the outcome is unclear, contact ChatArchitect support with the template name and language, connected WhatsApp Business number, campaign time, and examples of affected recipients or message IDs. Support can help distinguish a held send from a failed send or a paused template.

Do not immediately resend the same campaign to recipients whose outcome is still unknown: some held messages may later be released. Check the final result before deciding who needs a new message.

What to do next

  • Review whether the audience expected the message and consented to receive it. Narrow the audience or reduce frequency if the campaign may feel repetitive or irrelevant.
  • Check that the message clearly identifies your business and gives recipients a useful reason to read or act. The template creation guide covers preparing an approved template.
  • Monitor the outcome of held messages. Meta may release them or stop them after evaluating feedback; a held status is not a delivery promise.
  • If the template becomes paused, stop any campaign that depends on it and follow the pause guide. Do not restart that campaign until the template is active and its pending sends have been accounted for.

Meta does not provide a fixed delivery time for a held message. If the campaign is time-sensitive, ask ChatArchitect support to review the affected sends before scheduling a replacement campaign.
